Is it normal to tell you friends thier not fat when they are?

my mate asks me all the time if she is fat i can really say yh you bigger then a hippo so i say shes not i took her to see my mate one time and he told me she tryed to make a move on him and he say not thanks i dnt want to be eaten....
the next day she asked me if she was fat and i said no....... am i doing the right thing by telling her she not fat ?

    Tell her that you know she already thinks she's fat because she's asking you if she is. Tell her that the only way she will feel better is if she eats better and exercises. If she is unhappy with her weight, then encourage her to lose weight.

    Your guy friend really say that to her? What a douche-move.
    The only reason people ask that question over and over again to the same people is to get a little confidence boost regardless of whether it is true or not.

    No, I think you should be honest. Not "yeah you're fuckin HUGE" lol but in a nice way. Maybe ask her if she wants to join the gym with you, or go for walks..etc. Motivate her, don't be mean. I dont know how she doesnt she's fat, she has a mirror???...unless she's just a little bit over weight & you're over exaggerating.

    I agree with the confidence boost comment. She more than likely already knows she's overweight and She is probably fishing for something positive. Telling her she's not when she knows she is will just make you look like a liar. It all comes down to what others are asking here as well - is she really actually fat? Or is she just comparing herself to people that are stick thin when she's actually average?

    If shes a real friend, she'll understand you're telling her shes fat for her own good. I'm sure i don't need to remind you of all the health risks associated with obesity!

    It's normal but you should tell them the truth. If they drop you as a friend for then they weren't loyal to begin with.
