Is it normal to tell my friends to limit how much they come over...

I live in a studio apartment by myself, and I constantly have to deal with friends just showing up, then they wanna use my computer, eat my food, text on my phone, control what kind of music is playing and bitch about the TV shows I put on. Is it normal for me to tell these friends to call before they come over, and put my foot down and say I'm gonna watch what I wanna watch. I never get a break from these guys, and it feels like I never get any private time. I like them as friends but its way too much...

    Yes, it's completely normal.
    It's YOUR place, isn't it?

Of course. If they are your friends, you should be able to talk to them, and they can't just barge in and use your stuff. Its your house. You need alone time too. Tell them that you just need some time to yourself, and tell them no.

I'd lock the door and pretend to not be in.

Yeah I've had problems with that before when I was living by myself. Some of my friends would randomly show up and knock at my door even calling to see if I had time for the. That pissed me off. You know what I did? On days I really wanted to be left alone, I write something to say I wasn't available and put it on the door. One time I wrote "you make me want to punch you in the face" and they left me alone for a whole month. It was awesome. I know it's not the nicest thing I did but there are nicer ways of doing it. And always lock your door.

Your friends suck. Lock your door and don't answer it.

yeah! totally normal. Do your thing! and good for you for standing up for yourself. They will respect you for that, if they are your real friends.

Agree, I hate when people invade my space, especially when they are visiting and want to stay at my place like it's a hotel or something, maybe I should move !

You have every right to put a limit to your friends coming over or in your situations, limits period. It's pretty rude to just show up at someone's door without even calling/asking, even more appalling for them to just waltz on in through said door and act like your house is theirs (who goes around a friend’s house messing with all their stuff and whining about it anyway?). Sorry if this all sounds harsh, I’m sure your friends are fun but I really think you need to demand more respect. Don't feel bad for putting your foot down. If your friends are legit they'll accept what you have to say, after all you pay the bills there and shut the lights out! You have a right for your space and good friends understand that.
