Is it normal to talk to yourself?

But not just talk to yourself. Talk to yourself as if you were talking to somebody else? For example, I'll just think of something that I want to be able to say to someone, and I'll say it to myself as if I was actually talking to that person. Sometimes I'll actually have a "conversation" with this person to myself. I think I might be going insane...is this normal?

    you are not insane, if you do that in order to help yourself think through something, then you are a smart person to use that as a tool.

    if you think the other person is there, or is saying things that you don't feel are coming out of your own head, then you do have a problem.

    I do this. It's normal. It's a good way to sort your thoughts out! If you talk through to yourself something you'd like to say to someone else, then it's a good way to let it out, or practice how you want to say it. Don't worry about it :)

    You're not going insane! It's basically just thinking out loud. I do the same thing even having a 'conversation' with myself. I'll think of something I need to tell someone and just think of things they may say in response and so on. It's normal. No biggie.

    I'm so glad to read you all say it's normal, I always thought it was weird. :) I do talk to myself, too. I even introspect with myself and try to convince myself of stuff.
