Is it normal to talk to your father about sex

Me and my dad was in a truck on a father son road trip talking about what happened on our last road trip and stuff like that but then he said, "hey son have thought about havin sex" i was stun for a sec but i quickly responded i guess so. Then he said alright then i will teach you how to use a condom so you dont have to worry about babies or anything like that. In my head i was all confused in my head asking myself am i being given the permission to have sex.
And then now im just wondering if this happens often.Guys.....is this normal.

    MY firend was given the same lecture. His dad gave him condoms.

    Your Dad probably wanted to give you the talk and a camping trip was the perfect stereotypical, father-son setting he was comfortable with.

    I think he's trying to prepare you for the ways of the world. However, if things start to get "weird" stop hanging around him.

    He's just trying to make sure you're prepared. He may not exactly be giving you permission, but he'd rather you not get someone pregnant or catch an STD!

    it's normal, my parents tried to teach me about sex but they were unreliable. so I taught myself!
