Is it normal to talk proper nowadays?

Is it normal to talk in a professional manner and to act proper/respectful during everyday situations (except for when the person is angry, of course). It seems like people are so informal and talk so much in slang nowadays. Would the person awkwardly stand out or is it normal?

Why wouldn't it be normal? You don't have to talk like everyone else and its not always a bad thing to stand out. Rock on wit yo propa sef.

I guess I should start speaking properly. The way I speak is pretty appalling. My spoken grammar isn't very good, and although I don't use a huge range of slang, the slang I do use, I use all the time. A lot of the words I say most often are slang. I think speaking properly is good, and you shouldn't feel worried about it or anything like that. I'd be happy about it. At least you don't sound like a complete idiot like how I do in real life. It's alright now, because I'm surrounded by people who talk like me, but I won't always. You're lucky.

Yes, it's normal, though I wish more people did this because it's a good quality to have. I'm like this as well and I've come to notice that the way you speak has a big impact on the people you come in contact every day in real life, whether you notice it or not. I really wish more people would speak properly, for their own good and also for me to have the chance to understand what they're saying.

It's one of the things that makes me glad to be raised the way I was raised.

It's normal for me. My professional speak isn't much different from my casual speak. Sure, I throw slang and fowl language in when I'm not at work but it isn't something I put much thought into.
