Is it normal to take time for correct grammar?

That's cute how you changed up the writing style as you went further and further down the poll. The last one made me lol...noobs.

Grammar isn't about using numbers as letters. Grammar is sentence structure. Example: "I very often go back through and correct my writing." appears to be a cogent sentence yet "I very often" is incorrect structure. However, "sUm71M3S wH3N 1 Wr1T3 1 US3 c0RR3cT GR4mm3R bUT n0T aLWaYZZZ..." is correct grammar but incorrect spelling.

We are judged by our writing style and grammar. Why give people a bad impression of you just through laziness? It's like going out without ironing your clothes or brushing your teeth.

I've always, naturally, used proper grammar for any written text. I don't do it for any reason other than because it's my normal way of writing. It doesn't matter who I'm texting/e-mailing/commenting. Also, practice makes perfect.

When I text, I shorten my words. When I'm doing something more professional, I take the time to try and have the best grammar possible. I see no point of spelling correctly when you're just talking to your friends.

Probably each time I write something, I find time to go back and correct it. At least then you have less chance of trolls raping your comment... lol

My phone doesn't accept incorrect grammar!! I have to type everything right.

Oh my, i do this lol. I was just thinking about it today. It's really annoying haha. When ever I text, even something simple like "what's up" my freinds would say "wat up" or "waz up" or "sup" I feel like a retard if i don't just spell out the word haha. :D

thats my sister, shes almost 16. she has to spell everything correct when she's texting, facebooking, whatever cuz it would bug her if it wasnt't. she still uses lol and shit like that though.

I think taking the time out isn't all too bad, but pompous people who think they're superior because they do are just dull.After all, the internet exclusively English speaking, and anyone who bothers themselve to correct other people (or set up polls such as this one) are BORING.

Proper spelling and grammar shows people you are educated. Also, it shows you care enough about them to put effort into communicating clearly. I am like you in this sense. Syntax and spelling are important to me; however, I do not consult the "Elements of Style" writing guide to bang out a quick text.

It depends on what the person I am talking to is doing.

I skim through what I say, but sometimes I have mistakes :p

I have typos at times, and I have a few words I use in chat such as "cos", however I do try to keep my spelling accurate and I try to maintain a proper commend of the English language.

However I do have one issue with the poll. Being politically correct has absolutely NOTHING to do with grammar. You are confusing content with structure.

For the purpose of this example I will use a fictional race, so as not to offend anyone. I'm trying to prove a point, not slap someone in the face.

Obviously that's rude and not politically correct. The grammar however is perfect. Therefore "politically correct" and "grammar" are unrelated topics.

Better spelling and grammar dictates the education level and effort you have to communicate with others. This goes for ANY language.

I didn't even get the two last ones. xD I didn't understand what you were saying in the first one but I could read it. Haha I love this poll. :D And yes, every word I type, I have to spell it correctly and I haveto add punctuation everywhere needed. I don't type like Einstine, though. x3 Though if something is already posted, and I find something grammatically incorrect, I go crazy. :) :O Maybe I need to make a new question that says, "I need to spell everything gramatically correct. If I don't, I will punch someone in the head.". xD No jk but seriously. :O
