Is it normal to take this much pain medication and still be in pain?
I visited a friend in my old town yesterday and she was in horrible condition. She told me she had sold her car that she was not using for 1000 dollars 3 days ago and spent most of that on painkillers because she had been in horrible pain. She said she recently started seeing a doctor and was prescribed loratabs and Xanax, but it wasn't enough and she ran out of them quickly. She said she had to spend 600 to make up for half of her prescription that she lost but I don't think she even has any of those left. She asked me if I had ever tried roxies and asked if I wanted to get one. I didn't. She said her tooth started hurting and she wanted to lay down, that it had been hurting all week and she hadn't slept the whole time, just a couple hours. I've never had a tootheache so she said it was the worst pain ever and was harder to deal with than her neck and other pains she has. She went to her room and I checked on her after a few minutes and she was passed out sitting against her bed on the floor. She said this was the only way she could sleep. She got up maybe an hour later and didn't seem to feel much like talking. She is out of money now and still in pain and according to her never had any relief even with all the drugs.
When we were closer she did complain about pain and she's had health problems like seizures, surgery and bad teeth, headaches. She was abused and molested as a child too. When we met she was very quiet and withdrawn, but did have good friends, a boyfriend and seemed happy. She's always liked getting high too. I've always thought of her as strong as she never just went along with the crowd and she could deal with things well and was very accepting and understanding. Looking at her now she seems to have no one, even though she is living with family and other friends are still in town. I think she has given up.
