Is it normal to take this kind of risk for a chance.

I was recently on vacation and met a beautiful girl, everything went good, some things came up and I had to leave from my vacation early only to realize I never asked for any information about how to contact her. Is it normal to just show up again at the vacation spot even after leaving and then try to get together with her again even if its a 400 mile drive one way.

I have no idea i'm anxious when it comes to things like that and over-analyze the situation from the other point of view. Some people might find it romantic going back all that way, some might find it weird or maybe it's because despite how I hide it (i'm not as open irl as i am on iin so I actually appear pretty easygoing) I just assume that people are going to react negativley to everything I do. On the other hand I'm unhappy with my life due to missed chances and everyone says it's the things you don't do that you regret most in life.

Fuck it you should go. True, it might not end well but it could be the start of something awesome, either way it'd be worse wondering what could have happened

I don't know if it's normal, but I'd do it if I was in the same situation. Go for it, what have you got to lose but 6 hours or so of driving and a few bucks for gas?

Driving 800 miles isn't that much of a one-off commitment if you have the time for it and the stakes are contacting a person you have a real connection with. I don't think you're likely to succeed, but at least you won't have any regrets about not trying.

There are other options too, though. If you know where she was staying during the vacation, you could call the hotel and ask if they have a record of her email address or phone number. Make sure you look thoroughly for her online, too. If you know her name and a few other pieces of information (like her age, where she lives, where she works...) you should be able to find her. Most people have some kind of online presence. You can do all sorts of online detective work if you're dedicated enough.
