Is it normal to take clothes from the lost and found?

I often will notice cute hoodies sitting in the lost-and-found for months, so one day I decided that after a while, I was just gonna take the ones I like.
I usually wait around a month before taking them, and I only do it with sweatshirts and hoodies.

To be honest, if I saw an awesome piece of clothing in the lost in found at my school back in the day I would probably take it and then wash it three times.

At an old job I'd noticed the lost and found box would be packed with stuff from months prior. Obviously nobody is coming back for them, and after a while management would clear it out and send it all to Goodwill. I'd say as long as it's been there for quite some time, there's no harm in making use out of someone's misplaced garbage. Whether or not your school/place of work would approve is a different story.

If you're going to take lost and found clothes, just be sure to soak them in the wash for a bit. You don't want a stranger's cooties.

Context? Is this work or school or something? Is there not a good chance that the person who lost it will see you wearing it and assume that you have stolen it?

I'm about to graduate highschool, and I did this throughout my 4 years. No one has noticed, and if they have, probably assume I just happen to own the same one.
