Is it normal to take ages to go to seleep

I used to have trouble getting to sleep and was described a Valium like medication but now I just masturbate and I relax and fall asleep. I usually have niec dreams as well and there are no drugs
What's ages? Maybe you used to take no time to fall asleep, but stresses in your life are making it take a little longer lately. If you take more than an hour to fall asleep night after night, it's something you should probably talk to a doctor about. I have a sleep disorder, so some nights it can take me 6 or 7 hours in bed before I fall asleep. It really sucks.

counting, but not worrying about when you start skipping numbers

talking on the phone
talking to your parents
talking to your doctor
journalling your thoughts (maybe a clear conscience will help)
it takes me forever to fall asleep and i usually end up laying there for literally 2 hours and then just saying "screw this" and getting on my computer or something again for a bit until it;s like 3am. it's like i just don't WANT to go to sleep even when i am tired or have nothing else left to do. i recommend reading a book before you go to sleep because it's better than having a screen right before you try and sleep. reading will make your eyes tired eventually and calm you down, unless its like an intense mystery story or something. also, listen to music but not music with words or you will think about the words or sing along in your head which stops you from falling asleep. and stop thinking about things or going over stuff or your brain will just gear up again.

Start waking up earlier. You might not be tired. I used to stay up for hours trying to sleep. But once i started waking up with my bf at 6am, I found myself going to sleep at 10pm-12am easily.
The temperatures have been a real bitch for a few days and I think that's what it's really about. I personally listen to good music while trying to get some sleep and put a good album on loop so it plays still when I wake up.
My hint is that DO!! NOT!! EVER!! take any medicine that helps you sleep. Some people jump to this conclusion too early.
