Is it normal to sweat soooo much for a girl?

I swear i have the sweatiest armpits in the world! nothing has worked for me. Not DOVE, not NIVEA not EVEN REXONA CLINICAL PROTECTION FOR WOMEN (damn that professional-sounding bitch, didnt even work for me).

I am forever doomed to have sweaty armpits. I sweat for the silliest things e.g. after walking for like 20 minutes to school... my armpit area is drenched (EVEN ON THE COLDEST OF DAYS!!!!!!!!!) so you can only imagine what my armpits will look like when im nervous or anxious. there was this time i had to play in a piano competition.. and i was wearing a brown jacket and guess what?! i was so nervous that the sweat from my armpits SOAKED THROUGH THE THICK MATERIAL AND LEFT A MASSIVE VISIBLE-TO-THE-MAX SWEATPATCH!! i swear everybody could see it, it was sooooo emarassing.

I also sweat profusely when talking to boys as im not used to it (i go to an all girls school)...so how do you think i could be confident with these damned armpits?!!! just say one day a guy tries to hug me, he'll feel my sopping wet armpits and immediately withdraw his hands in horror!!

I also have to keep a check on the colour of the clothes i buy coz i cant afford to buy something which will change colour when wet otherwise the whole world will know that I have sweaty armpits

my sweating is a nightmare...i bet not even the 10000m marathon runner after his run would sweat as much as me! you know I have to constantly wash the armpit area of my clothing to prevent it from going yellow.

im so sorry for whining and complaining for so long but its just a problem that has really affected my self esteem and social abilities considerably...

So if theres anybody who has this problem or knows how to fix it.. PLEASE lend me your wisdom!! thanks heaps :)

Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, can be a warning sign of thyroid problems, diabetes or infection. Excessive sweating is also more common in people who are overweight or out of shape. True excessive sweating goes beyond the normal physical need to sweat. If you have hyperhidrosis, you may sweat heavily for no good reason -- when it's not appropriate to the circumstances.(cited from WebMD)

FIRST! Look up the different types of hyperhidrosis to educate yourself.
SECOND! Go to your DOCTOR (NOT IS IT NORMAL),
LAST! Get treatment! Took me 5 minutes to find all this information for you. You could have done it yourself. Don't sweat(no pun intended) over people judging you. You are a beautiful person inside and out. Just keep reminding yourself that and walk with your head high.

Did you ever think of trying MEN'S deodorant? I sweat a lot too and it really helps. Try one of the gel ones.

Okay, so I have always had this problem too.... I have read about getting botox injections in the armpits to freeze the sweat glands. I have never gone so far as to try this, but have considered it. Honestly, this was a huge problem for me in highschool, and since ive gotten older (by a few years) it has gotten better. Black shirts are always good, just be aware of the clothes you select, and how it will show, i kind of do this automatically now, and its not such a big deal, though i remember i used to be upset that i couldnt wear whatever. And honestly, i have never had a boyfriend notice this about me. Guys are not very observant in my experience, if you don't point out your flaws, they are not likely to notice ;) Hang in there, It will get better!

Hyperhydrosis does NOT (necessarily) mean anything serious, like above. Don't freak out! It's pretty normal. Have you tried "Certain-Dri?" It's really powerful. I actually had to stop using it because it irritated my skin.

A dermatologist can definitely help. They have everything from prescriptions (much better than "prescription strength" over the counter deodorants) to botox injections (which are expensive and not permanent. But, having options is nice.

Don't worry. It's so minor, and who cares whether someone sweats or not.
I just avoid white shirts (I get the stains) and use talcum powder on my hands, feet, buttcrack..etc haha

try to relax and take it easy, because stress can also cause sweating.

  • Put some sodium phosphide on your armpits before taking a shower. Not sodium hydride. It will sink in and prevent sweating.

My best friend had this exact same problem and she tried everything. The prescription deodorant worked but gave her a rash. Nonetheless, it stopped the sweating. Of course there's the surgery where they block your sweat glands (I think). But that's really risky and should be a last resort.

I have the same problem... Growing up was a nightmare!!!! I always had really bad sweaty arm pits... Now that I am older (I'm 20) it's better cause I'm not going through puberty anymore but there are things that you can do... Change your diet and eating less animal products (like meat and dairy helps) ... Losing weight helps, and waxing your armpits helps. Also there is a medication I am on for pcos that helps it's called aldactone. You should go to an endocrinologist... There is also something that a dermatologist had prescribed for me that really worked. It actually made my armpits really dry... It's called aluminum chloride I think. You put it on at night. Now that I'm older I just take the aldactone and wax and eat right and exercise. They still get wet if I wear a tight shirt but it's not nearly as bad as what it used to be. Good Luck.

As someone else suggested; men's deodorant. Botox injections. Medication.

I never said it was serious. I just said go to a doctor instead of submitting on is it normal. And I added that cite from WebMD to show that there is a probable answer out there.
