Okay, so I just turned 18. I woke up one night sucking my thumb. This isn't normal for me because I never even did it as a child. I have no clue what caused it but I've been sucking my thumb ever since (About 4 months)
Is this normal???
My girlfriend has been putting her thumb in MY mouth as we go to sleep for years. It's gotten so that now I can't fall asleep without it. This started after my teenage years so it can happen.
Give yourself more freedom and other childhood delights it's obviously a want to have no responsiblities (subconscious) take a vacation have some fun and live worry free if this doesn't work drastic measures may need to be taken.
It may not be normal to start sucking your thumb at such a late stage in life but as someone who has sucked his thumb all his life (41years) I wouldn't worry about it.
They say I'm fulfilling a need that was not met durring my child hood but no one can tell me what that need was/is. as for you starting to do it in your late teens is not very common place.
It's not normal and it will mess your teeth up really bad and you won't look normal either.
Im nearly 20 years old (male) and ive always sucked my thumb and still do, it calms and relaxes me, maybe you have always done it but only during your sleep and youve not noticed before.
I sucked my thumb up until I was 18 now I'm 24 and haven't done it since...I know for me I had to trade one thing for another which was cuddling and petting my dog before I fell asleep! If ya do it in ur sleep then u might be dreaming about it and just start doin it try putting something over ur thumb at night that might help!
If ya 41 and still sucking ur thumb u defianlty need to grow the fuck up!
