Is it normal to still be upset over my dad's death?

My dad died about eight years ago. I have yet to get over it. Not long before his death, there was an accident before he died, and it was very traumatic for me. I won't go into the details, but it was pretty bad. Anyways, I still miss him, and I can't get over it. Is it normal to still not be over his death?

You'll never get over it, but you do have to make sure you establish a new normal. Don't let the death hold you back, but know you'll always carry that pain (I lost my bro last year suddenly and violently).

Everyone whom experiences birth will have to experience death, it is a normal cycle of life on earch.

When my Dad passed away, it was the biggest shock, of course we're never prepared for our own parents to die but the reality is, sooner or later they do, luckily, I had my entire clan around to get comfort from, same happened when my Brother passed, mourning is part of the process of loss, if you didn't mourn at the time of your Dad's passing then you need take time out to do that now, even visit his grave or wherever he was scattered.

Well done for writing and sharing your feelings on this forum, you can further benefit from counseling or even therapy, but its normal to get upset while you are mourning and beyond, people are different and mourn at their own pace, its been over a decade but I still get upset and miss both my Brother and Dad.

Most comfort I can offer is you will meet him again in the Hereafter.

I haven't seen my father for 4 years, so even though you had these feelings longer than I did, I feel very sad... I would say it's really normal

Both of my parents died before I was 18 years old. It really is hard. I'm only 19 now. But I'm sure that I will be missing them for the rest of my life. Nobody can "get over" death. You just have to accept it. And accept that the person that you have lost is no longer in pain or no longer struggling or sad. It will be okay. I promise.
