Is it normal to still be afraid of the dark and other childhood fears?

Alright I am twenty years old and am not some panzy as my username clearly states however i am still often scared of what is under my bed and such. If i watch a scary movie i have trouble closing my door to go to bed. Is there a cut off date because i highly doubt my father has this problem!

We all have irrational fears, don't sweat it. My husband thinks that every body of water contains crocodiles...

Yes it's normal your childhood fears don't just disappear on your 21st birthday. They should diminish over time though.

Fear of the dark comes from a subconcious fear of the unknown

Yup. Unfortunately. But my fears have sort of changed I don't like being creeped out.

  • Sounds like you just never conquered your fears. Trying inviting some friends for a sleepover and watch a horror movie. That's a good step to take on the path to fearless.
