Is it normal to stay in with someone who drinks till they wet the bed?

My boyfriend is an alcoholic. He drinks almost every night and when he drinks he normally drinks till he passes out. We broke up for 9 months. then got back together about 6 months ago.

I believed either his lies or that he had changed. He has changed, but very little. while it isn't quite as bad as he was. He's verbally abusive and borderline physically abusive as well. He has also started wetting the bed when he drinks too much. This sometimes only happens once a month or so or like this week twice in one week. (twice in 3 days)

I don't know how much more of this I can take. I need to get some perspective.

Buy him an electric blanket and let him electrocute himself in his sleep when he wets the bed, problem solved.

Why do you allow this behavior?
If I were you, Id tell him quit drinking or bye-bye.

But really, dump him. As someone who has had too much experience with problem drinkers in the family, I have to say it's unlikely he'll better himself. But if you think you could help him, you need to speak with a doctor - the doctor will help you from there. We sent my bro to rehab and it seems to have worked so far.

Here's my instructions, as someone who lived with a problem drinker most of his life, I think I can help you:

    1. You'll have to stay up until after he drops off to sleep - so make coffee

    2. Make sure he doesn't drink anything an hour before he goes to bed.

    3. When he fallls asleep, be quiet so you don't wake him up, and tip toe over to his bedside. Pick up his pillow and smother the bastard!

My boyfriend is the same way minus the abuse part we've been together 2 years and he goes to work everyday comes home with a 18 pack and usually leaves 3 -5 beers in the box he passes out quite often in the living room bathroom where ever he happens to be at beer 13 or 15 usually on the 15th I can go ahead and prepare to be up and wait for him to wet the bed ( so I don't get wet) I know this isnt normal nor should I have to put up with a 22 year old bed wetter but I love him and he's an alcoholic but apparently it's not that uncommon I've invested in waterproof covers for the mattress and pillows so less mess because it happens 7-8 times a month and it is frustrating but I don't know what else to do
