Is it normal to start liking a guy after turning him down?

About a year ago a good friend of mine asked me out. I turned him down, because at the time I only thought of him as a friend. But now I have started to have stronger feelings for him and I feel like I have wasted my chance at being with him. Is it normal to start liking a guy after rejecting him? Has anyone else experienced this?

This is definitely normal. I just graduated this past June and all through my Grad year a guy who had a crush on me would carry my books to class for me, pull my chair out, meet up with me in the morning and walk me to my classes, he even bought me a dozen roses and a box of chocolates for Valentines and wasn't ashamed to give them to me in front of a bunch of people. For some reason none of that clicked with me, I turned him down as a boyfriend, I really liked his as a friend, he was a great guy, he just wasn't for me.

Fast forward a few months, he's in college now, and we reconnected. He comes home every weekend and we started hanging out, and I fell for him. All these little things about him, his personality, his mannerisms, are so endearing to me and I never gave him a chance before, but now I realize my mistake. We're together now and I've never met a better guy. Sometimes it takes a while to realize the man you dream about is the one standing right in front of you. I'm glad I didn't miss my opportunity.

If you like him, then take a chance! Life's too short to think about what could have been.

I've experienced this before too. It just goes to show that sometimes we don't always know what we 'got' until its gone.

This is normal. After turning him down you most likely realize that he is over you now and most likely he lost the interest in you and that is why you like him. Stop wondering what would have happened if you went out with him or what if he invites you again - the moment is gone. Even if you do the job and invite him out, it will never be the way it would have been, so just look around there are plenty of other people.

Well, it turns out he still liked me! Thanks for the advice, from those of you who weren't assholes whose sole entertainment is derived from the criticism of others anonymously over the internet.
