Is it normal to stand up for everyone else, but not myself?

Well I think I am very insecure. When people are walking behind me or talking to me, I tend to think about bad things that they might be saying about me, either in their head or to some one else, but really, they arn't even paying attention to my flaws. But when I hear them talking about someone else that I know, I say something. Why do I stand up for everyone else, but not myself? Is that normal?

its called being passive aggressive. you should learn to be more assertive, and you would feel better i am sure. i work on this all the time.

Yes, I'd say it's normal. I do it too. Although I stand up for ANYONE else but myself. Even people I don't sympathize with. It's weird. I guess I just really don't like backtalking.
