Is it normal to squeeze fat out of food before eating?

Well Im a "diet freak" so to say anything I eat im worrying about the calorie content..Whenever i do eat fries or anything obviously drenched in grease...occasionally...I use the napkins and i squeeze the grease out of them and then eat the fries, with the leftover grease drenched on the napkin...so as to eat "less greae" i was doing this in public and a couuple of peoople were staring at me.

Is it normalt o even consider doing this.? Or am i overdoing it? waht do you think.?

Stashing food and eating small amounts while hiding from people is normal.

    If you're a squirrel.

Yah I have to agree. Eating in small amounts is completely normal and I don't see the need to be hiding that from people. I do the opposite. Showing people I eat all the time would hopefully compensate their accusations, "oh you're so skinny, you must not eat that much." Even worst when all they see is you squeezing the fat out and never really see you eat!

    That's normal.

To cut calories, I suggest you make them at home and cook them in olive oil. Olive Oil is one of the worlds healthiest oils, you could drain it if you like:)

Agreed. Coconut oil and grape seed oil is good as well. While healthier, still is oily/greasy though.

Not really. Compared to other oils, olive doesn't contain cholesterol. So, it will keep you safe:)

It's been documented as a common behavior in people with anorexia... Perhaps discuss your diet habits with a doctor?

    • well, that could be true. But I dont think its that severe. I do stash food and hide it; mostly because im on the go and dont have time to come home to my kitchen to cook again.I wont eat in front of people i eat in the parking lot when im at work or break, mostly because i eat in small amounts, and people have said before "Thats all you're eating?!" i eat small but i do eat often. I feel like a slob if i eat in front of others. kind of guilty.

im debating whether or not this is normal.????

it's normal but i say if your gonna eat fries or any unhealthy thing just eat it. it's like people who eat extra-lean steaks or extra-lean ground beef... the fat is part of the food it makes it better. if you don't want to eat something that unhealthy don't eat it at all.

but of course that's only my own opinion

I'm a supporter! I'm with you and "Energy" and mom. I've been doing it for 20 years. My mom followed. Although now, she has become worst than me (re heating to melt the fat out of meats to the point that beef, for example, becomes more like beef jerky). I don't care if it's transfat or coconut oil. Love fatty foods (ice creams, chocolates, cheeses, etc.) Hate whatever you may want to call it, fatty/greasy/oily (Chinese dim sum, sweet potato fries, pizzas, etc.). <3

Olive oils are good for low to no heat. For frying I believe the "healthy" oils are coconut and grapeseed oils. In this thread I believe they meant, "grease" = "oily mess"

But at least it's healthier than the oil they use at fast food joints. In cities, they even banned oils with trans fats.

omg why eat fries if you're going to squeeze all the good stuff outta it?! I'm sure they're still fatty, and now they're not as good! I love McDonalds fries because they stay crispy longer and I hate steak fries/fat fries! I would just throw them out after that. I do blot pizza sometimes if there's a lot of grease on top.

I love pouring globs of olive oil on my pizza and McDonalds fries can stay somewhat fresh for a long time... They're really good cold.

If I'm making my own fries I put olive oil on top. ^.^

I hate soft fries. As long as they're cripsy-ish and salty I'll eat them.
