Is it normal to split the bill on the 1at date?

This guy asked me out to dinner, and had me drive all the way to his side of town for our first date. I didn't mind but as we were getting ready to leave he asked to split the bill! Mind you, it was only 35 damn dollars! Ok so I figured, well maybe he didn't like me...wrong, when we were outside he kissed me and kept asking me to go to his place...can you believe this garbage? I wanted to say hell no but I just said no I'm tired. So he text me and said he had a good time. WTF!!!! Please tell me this isn't normal! How many men have actually went dutch on the 1st date?

A man always has to approach the woman because the woman won't lower herself to picking him up. So he has to make the first move and invite her out.

Then, since he invited her (not like if he had a fucking choice), he should pay.

Wouldn't it be awesome if us men could be that demanding?

definitely wouldn't date any of these girls. if you care about being dined more than whether or not you had a good time then you're probably a waste of time.

these also sound like the most boring ingenuine first dates I could possibly imagine in the first place.

both people here are just looking forward to the end of the date so what's the point

I don't understand why it's always the girls expecting the guys to pay for everything. Why do you feel so entitled to having dinner paid for? What are you going to ask for next? A new car?? sounds like you're the b*tch!!!

My wife was always paying for herself. I was always irritated by her independent behavior. Now my salary much bigger than her salary and I have my revenge.

I'm a girl and I always fight to split the bill, cus it only seems fair in my opinion. It may be a way to play it safe on the first date, asking you to pay would have been horribly rude, but maybe he was worried if you were independent chick you'd feel insulted or think he was coming on too strong. Keep an eye out for red flags, but if nothing else went badly on the date (please correct me if something did) I'd say at least give it another dinner or few. Its really easy to fuck up a first impression, trust me.

^^ she was offered dinner (meaning espouses should be paid; if she'd planned dinner, she would pay), and drove out her way to meet him.

He's a right cheek, ditch him.

Well splitting the bill is normal but not if it's less than $100. That's a little strange. Plus it's messed up that u had to drive all the way to him. You guys shouldve met up somewhere in the middle of where you live. He seems like a bit of a jerk. I say go out with him one more time and judge it then. Good luck.

You should be paying for yourself. Why do women always assume that men should always pay for them? We are not in the 60s anymore love. How about showing a little independence. It is so funny how all the women on this site hate being treated like second rate crap however still expect men to pay for them for everything. It is one way or the other, you can't have both.

Leave him I am a guy and this is unacceptable. He is not looking for a realationship just a girl to mess around with.

  • He's inviting and not paying? I didn't think you could be that cheap. If he has money issues it's okay but he could have said so. And the whole going to his place thing is just plain funny. Was he thinking he'd really get sex by paying $17.50 for on first date? He's missing something, it's pretty obvious. Even prostitutes ask for more. In my opinion don't bother with this guy. He obviously wants one thing and I'm happy you didn't give any to him.

If he did this on the first date (and the goal is to impress on the first date)....... think about what he will do to impress you in 10 years.
