Is it normal to spend all day at starbucks?

I share a car with my boyfriend. When we work on the same day he has to drop me off where I work (It's at an outdoor shopping center). He works 11A-7:30p and I work 7:15p-10:30p so guess what? I'll be here all day.

Usually I can't stand it and I don't want to look like a loser so I walk around and look at the shops, watch a movie or two, and try not to go back to Starbucks (They practically know me by now).

I guess what I'm asking is do a lot of people have to do this or am I the only one?

I'm also pissed because I only work a 4 hour shift today and I'm practically spending half the money on keeping myself occupied. (It's the only job I have and I was hired seasonal so I've only been getting 4-15 hours a week!)

I would take the bus but it's a lot of hassle walking to the closest bus stop and I don't like riding the bus alone, especially not where I live.

I'm sure the staff don't mind, as long as you are not making a mess or taking up a seat during a busy time. Maybe introduce yourself the next time you buy coffee and briefly explain that you have to wait a lot for your boyfriend, or whatever. I bet they'll be nice about it.

And can you find another job?

I've been trying to find another job that's within walking distance. I did work at a Joann's but they treated me like shit and it was so boring, plus I hate fabric and crafts. >.<

Maybe I should work at Starbucks. haha.

Ya, you might like it there. I've heard that it's a good temporary sort of job to have and you meet lots of interesting people, but then you'd have to deal (win over) all the people who treat their coffee with more seriousness than their jobs.

I agree with Shackleford, bring your laptop. Or, you can bring a book.

Does Starbucks have free wifi? If so, maybe you could bring a laptop along if you have one and feed the IIN addiction? Or whatever else you might want to do on it also...
