Is it normal to smell like what you eat?

A few months back I was not satisfied with how I looked in the mirror. Others said that I looked fine but I did not feel the same. So I decided to go on a diet in order to shed the extra pounds. It was difficult because I just didn't have the resolve that I had a few years earlier when I lost nearly 50 pounds over a 3 month period(no joke). So what did I do? I started to gorge on cheese. Pepper-jack to be exact. I started to get worried about a few days after this gorging process began that I was going to put weight on again. But then I started to have a different problem:my body odor smelled like cheese! This was especially embarrassing because no matter how much I showered,I couldn't seem to keep the annoying stench of pepper-jack off for more than 10 hours!!! IIN?

Yes, it's normal to smell like what you eat. Especially if you eat a lot of it. I used to smell like garlic because I enjoyed it maybe too much. Now I take a supplement that doesn't give my body an odor.
It will take a little while for you to settle down to not smell like what you eat a lot of, but this too will pass.

I do not eat onions because every time I do (not gorge on them but just indulge in something with a few of them, such as a sandwich or salad), my body smells strongly of onions for 2-3 days afterwards. It's maybe stronger in areas that normally have an odor, such as the pits and feet, but I can smell it on my arms and hands, so I imagine that it's everywhere.

I don't think this is exactly normal, or the world of people would be onion-reeky always. Lots of people eat them freely. But does something like this happen to others?

  • Then try eating foods that have good smells, Like vegetables or fruits.
