I have been smelling strange and random smells for years but when it was something like bring plastic it was usually because plastic was burning. To make sure, why don't you get a brain scan?

    I think you're a bit confused.

In one study, it was found that a woman smelled burning toast everytime she was about to have a seizure. In her brain, the part that caused the seizures was linked with burning toast. This is not the case for all people who have seizures.

In my non-medical opinon, smelling burning plastic does not indicate a brain tumor. While this could certainly be the case, unless you have other symptoms or odd occurances, it's probably unimportant.

One explaination may be that your brain can't identify what you are smelling, and the closest it can come is burning plastic. All of your senses work this way. For example if you can't identify a taste you'll say it tastes like something similar. This could be a symptom of a very good sense of smell, or a poor sense of smell.

I have the same thing happen, but I smell blood. It only happens when I lay down though. I've always connected it with an event when I was younger.

A brain tumor is possible I suppose, but most likely it's probably a sinus infection or polyp. See your doc.
