Is it normal to slip up with your manners from time to time?

How many people in ths world practice perfect etiquette every day?
How many of us are constantly are offending people everyday?
Most of us try to be respectful as much as possible but frankly I think it is completely impossible to respect people at all times or to be proper at all times. Sometimes I think these are the pivotable moments that can cause people to loose it if they know people that harp on the issue of being completely aware of what were supposed to do at all times can drive us to the brink of madness.

Why are you asking questions that you know the answer to?

I hate it when people think they are being nice when really they are being inconsiderate. For example, if I am trying to cross the street, don't stop in the middle of the intersection and block all traffic. You make me look like the asshole. And don't get mad at me for not going when the other lane of traffic can't see me and just fly through the intersection. Now you just pissed off the person behind you who has no clue as to why you stopped. I'm not jumping into traffic just so you can feel like you did a good deed.

  • I don't try to be nice or well mannered. I'm just trying my best to be fair to other people, that's all.

If someone got offended and doesn't think too highly of me, that's alright -I don't think highly of anyone, unless proven wrong.

I try my best but there are certain customs that have fallen out of fashion (like standing up every time a woman enters the room, or taking off your hat in the presence of females).

I did break protocol last week, though. I brought some cakes I'd made into work and left them so that people could dib in. They disappeared in no time and by the time I wanted one, there was only one left so I took it.

Even though I made them and even though I hadn't had one, I should still have offered the last one around before eating it myself.

Manners are all about not having to be aggressive (because everybody looks after everyone else's interests) and I felt a bit of a barbarian that I had put myself first.

I will never forgive you for eating that cake.

Not even if I bake you a whole batch just for yourself? They were really, really, really good. :P
