Is it normal to shy away from, "the subject"?

Whenever the topic of sex pop's up, I don't really like talking about it. It's not that I'm immature and don't know about that sort of stuff, I just don't like to subject myself to that kind of conversation. I'm definitely of age though. And I do think about it a lot, but for some reason I never can bring myself to talk about. IIN?

I understand completely. Talking about sex itself was never as difficult as talking about MY sex life. I didn't like feeling so exposed and I always appreciated keeping those details between me and my significant other. I'm old-fashioned, perhaps, but everything seemed more meaningful that way. In other words, gossiping just to gossip never appealed to me. You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to. You can still be a good listener if you prefer. :)

But, I have to add: as I got older I've gotten a greater appreciation for a good dirty joke.

Its normal to feel this way until you get that subject untabooed. When we were kids, we werent talking about sex, it wasnt right. You have to cross that line so you dont feel like its taboo. People who talk about sex are not necessarily show offs, as for any subject, interpersonal communication can be very enlighting.
