Is it normal to shiver?
I've had chills since coming down with a sinus/bronchial infection. I have been taking pseudophed and thought that was causing the chills. Stopped the Pseudophed but chills continue. Started Z PAC two days ago but chills still continue. I'm surprised so many people have tried to figure out why they have chills and no one has mentioned the flu. I believe that's my problem or at least a nasty head cold. I also had body aches which a super hot bath helped immediately. It helped to read about dehydration and possibly not enough calories or electrolyte imbalance. Drinking more water has helped a little. I haven't been eating with an upset stomach and am underweight to begin with. I have low blood pressure also. So looks like the odds are chills until some of these issues are resolved.
Other possibilities I thought of when reading others responses is very common food poisoning. We eat at fast food places and restaurants and at home may leave food out too long or it's too old. Not one person suggested food poisoning. I believe a mild case can cause shivers as the body raises body temp to fight infection. Another is over fatigue. Lack of sleep and sleep apnea could cause the body to have lowered resistance and begin to shiver from physical stress.
For the little girl with rapid eye movements sure sounds like seizures. Problem with seizures is that they haven't mapped all of the brains synapse connections so can't diagnose or fix the problem. There are anti-seizure drugs as I'm sure you know. We just hate to medicate our loved ones if there is a better answer. There are great strides being made with brain studies. Try researching the subject and you may find a source of help. Best of luck to all of you. May we be warm and no more shivers in the New Year.
