Is it normal to self-medicate with alprazolam?

I steal it from my father sometimes, and I find that from day to day, i feel less frazzled about my life, more able to speak calmly and carry on a normal interesting conversation with random people, and even enjoy smoking weed with people more than regular.

I know that the stuff is addictive, but is it a trade off that is more beneficial than not?

Does anyone else take the stuff? To what long-term results?

It is not normal soon it will have no effect on you and you may find your self in a dark place. I went cold turkey in April, good luck! As for the weed; if they aren't ant negative side effects that you've experienced then that's great because it's a great natural relaxant!

It's called having a drug problem. I have PTSD and can't get them prescribed because I purposely overdosed last time, so I know how you feel. But any addictive drug is bad to self-medicate with, and Xanax withdrawal can cause delirium tremens.

The anxiety you have right now can't ACTUALLY kill you. DTs can.

Trust me, you don't want to get addicted to these. I had a run in with them, got prescribed by a Dr who gave me the highest legal dose and now I am struggling (and I mean struggling hard) to get off of them. My mother used to give them to me to calm down every so often. After 3 months of use, I decided to go cold turkey and suffered a Grand Mal seizure. I haven't felt right since and I fear getting off xanax because they have become my crutch and I am deathly afraid of having a seizure alone. Learn from my enormous mistake and stop while you're ahead. Whatever you do, do not get a prescription. Just because a Dr signs it over doesn't mean he knows what is best for you.

I don't like it because it makes my memory very foggy, something that I can't really have right now with school and work. Are there any meds that don't do that, but would help me with my life?
