Is it normal to see your ex-girlfriend?

I've been in a relationship with a girl for the last 2 years. And I've recently started seeing my ex-girlfriend (she texted me saying that she missed me and wanted to see me) so without even thinking, I rushed to see her. I realized that I miss her and I really enjoy being around her. My girlfriend doesn't know. I only see my ex like 1 time every 2 months when she feels she misses me a lot. I love my girlfriend and I don't want to tell her and break her heart, and I can't stop seeing my ex because I probably still have feelings for her, and she's so special to me.

I don't think the bare act of seeing her and talking to her and hugging her as a goodbye is unfair to your girlfriend (or abnormal, for that matter) but I don't think that's the most important thing. The most important thing is think about how you manage your feelings, which are associated to how you act around her.

If I was in your position, and if you continue to have romantic feelings for her, I would make the choice of one girl to allocate my romantic feelings to and stop seeing the other. Whichever girl you choose is up to you, although it's important to think about the reasons why she's your ex in the first place; in these situations it's easy to be blinded by infatuation and make a decision you later regret because you remembered the good times but underestimated the bad times. I think the best and easiest decision would be to stop seeing your ex-girlfriend, and accept that although she will always be special to you those times are in the past.

As long as you aren't cheating on your girlfriend you can hang out with whoever you want man

  • It's fine. I still hang out with my ex-girlfriends and wouldn't ever get with a girl who had a problem with that. I don't do anything sexual with them and they have new boyfriends/husbands. You shouldn't have to hide these things though.

What does "seeing" her involve exactly?

    • We walk around, hug occasionally and I kiss her on the cheek before leaving

These feelings for your ex are normal. But remember why this person is your ex. Are these feelings love or lust? What would happen if you got back with your ex? If history would just repeat itself then I suggest you stop seeing this girl. If you're hugging her, kissing her on the cheek and flirting with her this counts as cheating for a lot of girls so you'd better be careful. Like a previous commenter said, if you have to hide it then it's a problem.

Haha this looks like the other side of a story I saw here a few days ago.

You'd better just tell her, dude. Finding out the hard way is so much worse.
