Is it normal to see myself so ugly?

I went to a wedding recently, and that morning getting ready, I looked at myself in the mirror and thought I looked great.
A few days later when I saw some pictures of me at that wedding, all I could think was how ugly and fat I actually am.
It happens every time I see a photo of myself... I can't help but to hate myself, while family and friends say I look good...

  • I do the same, sucks! When I look at my pics I look so fat! Why does it seem you look fatter when you look in the mirror than in pics!

Each person judges themselves harshly! Put that out if your mind, and try to say healthy weight and physically fit! The beauty will always show threw to others that way!

Some people don't 'photograph well' but I think it's probably that you're being overly critical of yourself. Remember that you will look at a photo of yourself and pick out the perceived 'flaws', whereas other people won't see those things you're picking out.

Psychology my dear Watson. I can't recall the ACTUAL name of the rule... But we see ourselves more attractive than we really are- the reflected version we see in the mirror everyday. And we subconsciously adjust ourselves in view to increase our attractiveness (ex:girl's duck facing it up in the mirror w/out realizing it). So that flipped image in the photo isnt the same mirror images. Also: familiarity brings likeability. (I took a psych class this past year). Btw there's a question like this already on this site(I even answered that one too!)
