Is it normal to scratch scalp off your head?

I don't know why, but it's just a habit to me. I scratch my head in the same places where my scalp builds up more, and pick off dandruff from my head. It's been about a year ish, maybe shorter. It got really bad at one point, with red scabs on my scalp. Is this NORMAL??

There was a woman who scratched her head so much that she actually managed to "tear" a hole into her skull. I wish this wasn't real but it is. The woman had emergency surgery and is paralysed in some parts of her face. If this doesn't scare you, I don't know what will. Please, stop and see a doctor.

Watch out or it may lead to Trichotillomania(urge to pull out one's own hair).

You may have plaque psoriasis where the build up is. May need to wash with a medicated shampoo.

If you start ripping the skin off and playing with your wounds you will need to see a doctor.

I used to do the same thing, I was watching TV when i realized what I was doing! I was picking at my scalp. I used to pull hair out too and create a little bald spot. Thankfully, this habit has stopped.
