Is it normal to say your bad at something but really u are pretty good

I am a really good artist and everyone says that but I don't think I am but no artist I know thinks they are good when they are. So is it normal that I don't think I'm good.

Well you are exceptionally poor at English. It could be normal.

Any creative person is their own worst critic. But if you're proud of something, don't hide it. Criticize yourself and congratulate yourself as needed. Just be honest. Modesty is one thing, but when multiple people acknowledge your talent, then eventually you'll have to learn to accept their praise with humility.

Yes that's normal. I'm the same way, but not in art though. I play tennis and a lot of people say I'm all good, but i ignore their compliments and tell them i'm not. I don't like to be cocky or anything. It also helps because if I think I'm not good then i strive to be better and i work on my flaws and work harder

It's not just modesty, it's self-deprecation - and if you let it, it will stop you from ever realising your full potential.

You KNOW you're good, deep down - you even say it in your question - so stop being silly and share your art with the world!

  • Yeah, a lot of people do that.

There is, infact, a word for it. "Modest".

Yeah it normal. I'm an artist too but I don't think I'm as good as others say. Artists tend to judge themselves on higher standards than non-artists.

  • It's normal to have mock humility but I've never liked it.

If you're good at something recognize that fact and don't curtsy around the issue.
