Is it normal that whenever I have to use the bathroom, particularly number 2; I need to run the water?

    What a waste of water.
    You can just stick a couple of sheets of TP in the water to break the fall so there isn't that big kerplunk noise.
    If the noise is because you're spraying it everywhere or you're grunting to get it out that's a bit different though. I still wouldn't be too worried, you think noone else makes a noise? I'd be more worried about people hanging around the toilet.

    Yes, it is. Or what's more normal, is to have the noise to cover it (or to zone out to).

    They even have an invention in Japan for this; it's called the Sound Princess. It sounds like a toilet flushing over and over... they invented it to save water because this was so common with Japanese women.

    Also, I'm a guy, and while I don't run the water, I turn the fart fan on. I like the white noise...

    i get stage fright when i'm on the john. so i use this a lot. especially when i'm taking upper-deckers

        like this one time i was in a public restroom and i had a 10 second long toilet echo fart. it was spectacular. i heard people snickering
