Is it normal to rent a car and hotel room for a date?

Both my car and apartment have piles of dirt and decaying material on the floor (haven't vacuumed in 10 years)... I don't want to deal with it so does it make sense to rent a car and hotel room? I dunno if the room is even necessary.

Wait, you're really thinking of renting a hotel room ... for a date? Uhhhhh, what kind of date are we talkin'? No guy I've ever dated took me to his place on the FIRST date. And I've invited dudes out myself, but we always-always go OUT.

So, what gives? Are we talkin' a "date" or... ?

Prepared? I can respect that. Don't think I'm giving you a hard time here, but I just can't imagine staying in on a first date. And I'm only 19! I mean, I thought it was nearly universal that first dates you do something very low-key and public--like lunch or a concert with friends, or even a team sporting event. Here in Boston when we date kids from other schools it's becoming popular to grab a few friends and hit a racquetball court, or in the summer do touch football or volleyball. I can't speak for most girls, obviously, but you're sending a chick a message if on the first date you invite her to your place--or worse--a hotel room.

        I mean, daaaaaaaamn!

Just rent the car and room at a nice hotel for now. Tell some bullshit that you don't like inviting people to your place for safety reasons, because anyone can be dangerous and you rather get to know him/her more. Say this only if she/he ask to go to your place, otherwise just stay quiet about it and enjoy the date.

As for your cleaning habits, you need to fix that. Going to someone's place gives us the opportunity to see the kind of person you are. You can't keep spending a bunch of money on fake cars and hotel rooms; eventually, you may find someone serious you can't lie to, and if they see you can't keep your place clean, it'll show them that you can't look after yourself. No one wants to be they're partner's housekeeper.

Tealights, I hope you don't mind that I roared laughing reading your comment (I mean that in a good way!). I can just hear it now:

Person-1: "So, wanna come back to my hotel room?"

Date: "Um, I thought you lived locally."

Person-1: "I do, baby, but for all I know you could be an axe-murderer. Let's head back to my hotel room waaaaaaay back down that dark corner in the sound-proofed room so we can get to know each other better..."

Date: "Uhhhhhh, would you hold on for a sec? I have to check my car's transmission. I'm just going to ... um ... drive around the block real quick. No, No, don't come with me. This'll take only a sec..." (Tires burn scorch marks on road as car screeches off, fishtailing...)

Girl, thanks for the Saturday humor! :))
