Is it normal to remember things that didn't happen?

Sometimes I have told stories only to later realize that it didn't even happen. When I tell the story I believe it but afterwards I will ponder if it actually happened. It sucks when someone brings up what I said later after realizing it never happened and I just go along with it so they don't think I was lying because I doubt they would understand. Do other people have false memories?

It seems like you're a mind control test subject of either:
    1. The Government, or
    2. Some asshole hypnotist.
Or, your brain just works in some weird way.

You should write your stories down.
Maybe you can become a successful fiction author.
Or just read them again later to try find patterns that may help you get to the bottom of this mystery.

I often have dreams of things that happen after I wake up. Like I had a dream that I asked my dad for scissors and he cut himself getting them for me. So I tried to stop him from getting cut by getting them myself without asking but he got mad and while taking them from me, cut himself in the exact same spot as in my dream. This probably has nothing to do with your question. I can't even remember what it was and I'm to lazy to scroll up right now.

How do you know they didn't happen? Perhaps it's this that is the dream and the stories are the reality. One can't be completely certain what is real and what is not, so be very, very careful.
