Is it normal to refuse counselling?

I saw a doctor about a problem in my head and she gave me the number for this charity that offers counselling to teens/ young adults, idk if I should go though. Without going into it, its just something silly in my head that I thought would go away and hasn't. Is it normal to refuse to go or should you always take the advice of the doctor?

This is a stretch but if it's suicide you're talking about, then you should see a counselor because even if you think it's silly and will go away on its own, it has alot to do with your self esteem, and it will go away ALOT faster when someone is there for you and to teach you! You can always try a session and see how you like it.

I go to counseling once a week. It has changed my life immensely..... For the better. I wish I had started going years ago. Give it a try. It sure can't hurt anything.

Sometimes you are your own best healer and you know what is right for you. However, I don't think counselling is harmful in any way and the worst that could happen is that you waste an hour of your life. The best that could happen is that you feel better.

Can't really give good advice without knowing what this silly little thing in your head is... Good luck either way I guess? But if this professional thinks you need further help with this, then I would take their advice.
