I'm a girl of 23 years. I received a vibrator for a birthday present from my girlfriends mother. It came with a note saying "Hope you Both Have Fun With It".

I don't know how to respond to this gesture. It seems to be a bit weired.

I've been having a steady relationship with my girlfriend for the last 3 years, but am not sure if her mother knows about us.

I haven't told my girlfriend about the gift yet, as I don't know how she would react to it.

Whom is she referring to by 'You Both' ?

Is it normal ?

    Maybe your future mother-in-law comes from an open and expressive family? Maybe she is trying to tell you she accepts and approves of your relationship with her daughter without actually saying it?

      Not until recently we talked about coming out. The first person we confessed of our relationship was to my girlfriends mom.

      She said she knew about it much earlier and that was why she presented me with the vibrator so that I could efectively full fill her daughters sexual desires.

      But I felt that she was being very selfish, when she also said that she wanted to make sure that I was able to please her daughter sexually and that she wanted her daughter to have the best of everything including sex.

      It's difficult for me to just shut her down, even in a nice way. She is so and very loving towards me. She shows such affection towards me even in front of my girlfriend and her 2 other daughters. My girlfriend does not complain or say anything. So that makes it even more difficult for me. I love my girlfriend very much and don't want to do anything that would hurt her.

      I actuall got the vibrator from her for my birthday in April. The reason I only ask this question now is because, she has been extremely loving towards me ever since she gave me the vibrator. She hugs and kisses me in greeting everytime I visit my girlfriend at her home. She also discusses with me on several issues, including sex. She was never like this before. She also told me that she would like to have sex with a girl one day, to see if she enjoys it.
      So I just got a little worried.

      But maybe you are right.

    It sounds like a mother trying to be motherly and accommodate people's feelings. Slightly misjudged, but the sentiment is there. It's kind of nice, to be honest. At least she cares.
