Is it normal to question and be puzzled about when i think "i exist"?

I feel strange when I say "I exist" I feel perplexed and I question my own existence, don't take it to the religious side but I get very strange and I wonder how I can feel my own body and feel alive.

Schizoid character style seeks to justify their existence— according to one author. Interesting read. I’d recommend browsing Character Styles.

Cogito, ergo sum, (Latin: “I think, therefore I am) dictum coined by the French philosopher René Descartes in his Discourse on Method (1637) as a first step in demonstrating the attainability of certain knowledge.

I used to think the same things. I'd also check the time on the clock, look in the mirror, and/or say to myself "this is [insert day, month, and year here], I am in this spot right now existing" to see if any of that was real. At some point I found myself doing that stuff in my dreams and somehow managed to teach myself how to lucid dream a little bit. XD

Its a very basic question in philosophy. What actually exist - and can we prove it.

"I think, therefore I am" first known to be published by René Descartes, is the classic proof of our existence.

Unfortunately, proving other things exist appeared to be at least a bit (if not a lot) more difficult. Multiple papers and books have been written on these kinds of questions over the last several centuries.

I suggest that you take a philosophy class. College level "Introduction to Philosophy" is actually suitable for most high school students.

Or start researching "Philosophy" on the internet and find out all the various things they debate and research.

Perhaps I should have said hundreds if not thousands of books or papers; which is certainly the case.

Yes, you exist, and it's normal that you exist. Don't think too much about it, or it might freak you out.

It's normal for thinking people (and not everyone is a thinking person) to go through a phase in their youth when they're preoccupied by existential questions.

Religious people take the easy route and find their answers in some old book or in the words of some supposedly wise, enlightened teacher. Philosophers spend their entire lives either trying to confirm some profound truth they've settled on or discarding a succession of tentative ideas and never coming to any firm conclusions.

It's easy to vanish up your own asshole when pondering this shit, because, as is proven by the huge number of alternative answers to the big questions of life, there is no ultimate, universal Truth.

My view is that you should simply accept the fact that you do exist (although philosophers have tied themselves in huge knots over just that simple question), and accept that it's your responsibility to figure out the meaning and purpose of your life. That's much more challenging than accepting some cut-and-dried answers written in some supposedly holy book, but it's liberating too.

It is the same for me. Also especially when I was younger I would sometimes become overwhelmed with how pointless and meaningless everything in my life was.

I feel like everyone experiences these thoughts, and most of us just learn to stop thinking about it. It's not really the kind of thing that thinking about will make less confusing or strange. The fact that anything exists at all is fuckin' weird.
