Is it normal to put yourself in a tv show as a new character?

Is it normal, while watching a television show or movie such as Vampire Diaries, Harry Potter, smallville or Twilight that I put myself into the show? Like I make a role for myself, usually as the younger sister or as the girlfriend, typically both. Then when scenes happen in the show I alter them in my mind around this additional character?

I used to do this with books. Id pick the character I wanted to be and read there name as Tia when it came up. Never did this with a TV show though but it seems normal.

You're saying I am NOT the one that replaced Lt. Worf as Chief of Security aboard the Enterprise, later kindling a romantic relationship with Lt. Cmdr. Data?

    News to me.

I've never considered this. Hmm. Interesting.

I'd quite like to be Sheldon's English cousin in The Big Bang Theory. Or Chandler's English cousin in Friends. Or Mulder's English cousin in the X-Files. I just want to be someone's English cousin! After posting this, I'm going to check IMDB for anyone roles called "English cousin" to see what I could have done!

    Bah! Nothing! Just this...

It's got no reviews and nobody seems to have seen it. Hmm. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone on IIN set up an IMDB account and made up a review? It'd be like a flash mob thing. :D
