Is it normal to put vodka in chocolate milk?

I put about 2-3 ounces of vodka in a glass of chocolate milk. It's like a ghetto white Russian I suppose. I started doing it cuz I didn't have any coffee liqueur to make a proper white Russian and I found this is pretty darn good....although it sounds disgusting. I have gone through roughly a gallon of vodka this way. So it really is not bad....I didn't buy coffee liqueur last time I was at the liquor store although I could have. I am quite content with the drink I make.

Anyone else do this?

Post drink mixes you have come up with in a pinch!

        • A white Russian is a drink, I know. It is milk, vodka and coffee liqueur. But I have never heard of chocolate milk and vodka as being a "real" drink. Perhaps there is a version with a chocolate liqueur.

    • I will try that. I have put different liqueurs on ice cream (creme de menthe, peach, melon...not all at once!) but never vodka. A vodka milk shake would be great!

Sounds good to me. I also like to put Bailey's Irish cream in milk.

Rum might go better with chocolate.

Spiced rum is sweet and it's brown.

Somewhat. It has a deep fruity earthy spicy smokiness about it. It works well in banana milkshakes too.

    • Really? Cool! Just a tip: I made it with vanilla soy milk and it was better than regular milk. Both are good but the one was better.

Yep! I've got a big bottle of vodka as "emergency alcohol", and I had some near-expiry milk which I did consider mixing up. I had a carton of chocolate milk I considered using too, but in the end I drank them both separately. Maybe next time I'll take the plunge :P

How much is a gallon of milk in the UK?

Hmm. This is more complicated than it looks, because US and UK pints and gallons are different sizes. The 4 UK pints of milk I bought today cost me £1.29 ($2.08), and a 4 UK pints is multiplied by 1.66 to make 1 US gallon. So a US-sized gallon of that milk would cost £2.15 ($3.47), minus a bit because buying in larger sizes is usually cheaper. So maybe somewhere around $3. This was semi-skimmed milk, about 1.7% fat, not whole milk.

And the vodka was £12 ($19.37) for 700ml, although it was on sale reduced from the normal price of £20 ($32.29). It was relatively fancy vodka compared to what I would usually get - the cheapest stuff is about £10 ($16.14).

So the total financial risk wouldn't be too high if I were to have a go :P

            • So your milk is roughly the same cost...I pay about $2.89 a gallon at the cheapest but have paid $3.99 just recently at a small store. The soy or almond milk is $2.50 a half gallon.

I buy a 1.75 liter Barton's vodka (~half gallon) for $10.99. It's crap but actually there's cheaper brands. I go with Barton's because I'm mixing it and I know it mixes well. If I were shooting it I like Belvedere.

I'm surprised milk is so similar in cost but alcohol is much higher.
