Is it normal to put a cut in pure salt water

I was in flordia once and I had a cut and then went in the ocean and it stung bad but felt good so now I make my own salt water and continue.

My grandma used salt water as a cheap, readily available antibacterial agent. It works because it really screws up a cell's ability to retain its water content. And water is the one thing all life depends on.

Salt water is extremely helpful in killing bacteria. Plus it's cheap.

Agreed, it is an affective way to clean your wounds, but I would not classify this action as normal.

It's actually very good at killing bacteria! People with piercing use it to clean them. It's very good for wounds.
