Is it normal to purposely choose your career that you are not sure

Hi people, I know that you are suppose to pick something you like, and you think you will do well in.
but I chose to do something that is totally new to me and went to 4 years of school for it, but the reason I chose is because I don't know anything about it, I wanted to challenge and now almost graduating, I dont know how I feel towards what I just learned, but I did train myself on better work ethics and faster learning abilities, attention to details etc,
so is it normal to choose work that you have no passion for

  • Why spend your life working in a job you have no passion for? That sounds awfully boring. I guess I can't really put myself in you shoes...my problem is being passionate about too many things. I've never even thought about not being passionate about anything...hm

    Very thought provoking.

The career I wanted to pursue was for logical reasons. Not because I thought I would do great in that field. I have no real strong interests towards anything myself.

I could have been the one writing that story. I don't know if it's normal but maybe you have chosen something you have much chance of making a career out of it.

I'm not sure how normal it is, but I bet there are plenty of people who wake up dreading going to work. If anything, I guess the best advice I can give you would be to make the most of it. Find something, whether it's some hobby or location that will counterbalance how you feel about your job. Like, if you dislike you're work, make time to enjoy the little things or try to find friends that can make you forget about it. That's really the only advice I can think of, enjoy the little things and I guess the life that your line of work has brought you.
