Is it normal to pull my hair out?

So, I pull my hair out, I go searching for wiry ones, and pluck em out, see if there is a root, and then examine the hair for color changes along the length.
Or I search for split ends and mess with them.

+ There's these white dots along the hair that bend when I push them together, and with the slightest tug they just snap off.

You need to try Amino Acid Therapy it actually creates more serotonin in your body. It works! I am 39 and have worn a full wig since age 17. I started taking Neuro Replete and CysReplete about 3 months ago. I am at level two and it has completely worked. We have a serotonin deficiency which can be checked with a urine test. Try a serch on serotonin deficiency and then call Natural Path Health Center at 608-274-7044 they can help explain.

I have never heard of this but I am going to look into it. I had a really stressful day today and I pulled almost all day and now I feel horrible - I can't keep doing this to myself - I've had trich since I was approx. 7 and now I am 25 and wear a full wig also ):

It is called trichotillomania, often associated with low serotonin levels, depression and other mental illnesses, but can present alone.

I have it too. I will find wiry hairs, pull them out, run my fingers along it and sometimes chew on it. I can't help it. I've tried not to do it to avoid getting headaches and hurting my scalp, but I always find myself coming back to it.

It can be controlled with different kinds of therapy and low doses of antidepressants.

I used to pluck out the occasional wiry hair, but you really shouldn't. It may lead to baldness.

Do you want to get rid of the "problem hairs?" If so, pulling isn't the way to go. Diet would probably work better.

It's self-mutliation. Get some help if you can't quit. There was a girl
In my neighborhood that pulled all of her hair out. Not normal!
