Is it normal to pretend you believe what everyone says?

Is it normal to play dumb and act like you believe whatever people tell you? I find it fun. It's a good cover as well.

If someone tells me something about their personal life and I think (or know) it's a lie, I'll let it slide unless I think it's more than a white lie. White lies aren't exactly fine by me, but I accept that people might have a legitimate reason for telling them that is more important than my need to know whatever the truth is.

What's the opposite of a "white lie"? A black lie? A colourful lie? A dark lie? A red lie, like the red IIN sheep? :P He's a shifty looking character; I wonder what he's hiding?

I'm more likely to confront people about their red sheep lies because those lies could potentially conceal something important, not just from me but from other people too. People who lie or misrepresent the truth about politics or science or anything like that in an argument are a right pain. I can understand why you'd enjoy to play dumb though.

Yes, but I don't find it fun. If I could I wouldn't do it at all.

If somebody tells me something about their personal life that I know is a lie, I don't say anything. I figure it must be important to their ego, so I don't shoot them down. Let them have their fun. They are just making fools of themselves.
But I do speak up if somebody tells a lie about someone else. It's not fair to spread lies about other people.

I guess I do the same, a pretend I beleive them and all to avoid confrontation, but when it they're saying something for the sake of saying it like a intresting fact or so I tend to be more critical about it, but the real reason to that is so when I bring it up in a conversation in the future I don't get caught out for beleiveing and spilling out utter batshit.

Did you buy one of those cool t-shirts that have the word 'college' printed on the front when you got your acceptance letter?

I should do that too. I have one that has the name of my university printed on it, but it would probably be cooler if I just simply advertised the fact that I'm in college. Why represent my university? Its unnecessary. The only thing that people need to know is that I'm in college in order for me to be as cool as you.

Interesting... Conforming with nonconforming. How paradoxical.

Well it's a very non-controversial way to get to know how people think. Sometimes it's smart to look dumb. You have to know when to put a line down, however. You don't want someone insulting your intelligence to the point of disrespect.
