Is it normal to prepare myself for a long distance relationship?

& If so how?
I've been with my bf for 7 months now & I am going away to college. We were long distance when we both started (like out first 2 or 3 months) however he moved down to Florida (from Washington State) to come be with me.
I am leaving in a month to college & it's really upsetting to think about. I going to miss him dearly. But is there ways to prepare yourself for such? If so how? I need to make sure I am not depressed in college lol. I want to live life to the fullest but at the same time have him by my side. He says he will come with me but he needs to get stuff situated with his family first (their currently going through a rough time) & I totally trust him & support him. However what if it's longer than expected? How can I can I endure the pain in college (& better yet avoid it). Thanks a lot!

i had a long distance relationship for quite sometime. It can work but it can get tiresome and it does have an expire date.
