Is it normal to play ignorance to avoid conflict?

You can spend your time getting angry at someone who pointlessly insult you to get a rise. However a lot of times this is not very tactful and ends up making you look very bad.

So sometimes I simply pretend not to get the insult. Example:Attacker:"I sucked your moms cock". Me:"Gee, I was not aware that women had cocks to suck. You should take a biology lesson sometime."

However sometimes this does not always work if the second party is insistent and keeps ranting you did something wrong. Even if you keep denying it. It seems to work with most conflicts though.

It does seem to work until the person you're talking to catches on and gets angry. Just give them room to rant and then calmly tell them, "This will be the last time I say this, I did not (insert activity) and I'm not going to argue with you."

    • You know thanks I might try this next time. Some people are very pushy and want to insist you did something wrong till everyone else joins in. Some people get annoyed and just quit but that is not 100 percent reaction.
