Is it normal to play chess with yourself in your head.

I always have a chess game going on in my head. Chess is one of the only things that makes me happy. Playing with myself is better than playing with others because it's less stressful. Also, whenever there's tiles on the floor I pretend I'm a piece (mostly a knight).

Well, when I do this half awake sometimes 3 or 4 white rooks take on the same square, pieces moving diagonally sometimes change color, I don't play full games, the other side is slightly weaker than me.. How do they remember a ton of blindfold simultaneous boards anyway? Can't working memory only hold 7 plus or minus 2 things?

Example of a great mind being wasted. No point of having such a great strategic mind if you're going to waste it on games. Replace the pieces with plans for making things better. Homes for homeless, better help for vets, helping new actors/actresses make their way "in"....

Lol chess is incredibly complex. One must use the mind in order to win a match. A player must decide between a wide amount of possibilities, and try to read the other player's strategy. Not easy!

THAT'S my point All of that talent wasted on a game. Using the game to sharpen the mind, ok. But once a blade is sharp the sword is ready to deal with the toughest situation. Otherwise, you're just the crazy old loner who sits in his home cleaning his gun, waiting for a war that he's too scared to join

Oh! You mean that he must play with other people, and not alone. Yes, I agree with that completely.
