Is it normal to pick on scabs?

I pick on my scabs almost every time one forms over a wound. its just an urge that's difficult to resist. Eventually they do heal if i forget to pick on them for a while.

Am i weird or does everyone else do it too? :D

You're not alone, I pick on 'em too! 280

  • Whenever I cut myself and develop a scab, I peel off the scab. I do that because I don't want my cut to get infected by a dirty scab.

holy some people are weird in this world! but hey, what can you do about it :) we're all individuals ,, I pick at my scabs too but certainly do not eat, or store them in any way.

I sometimes pick on my scab depending on where it is. If it's on my arm, neck, chest, leg or somewhere like that I will peel a scab if it is dry/peelable.

If I am peeling a scab and it gets incredibly painful/sore/stinging whatever then I'll stop and like an hour later I'll try again.

If a scab is on my face or hands or something like that I try to refrain from peeling scabs. I might touch a scab on those areas and kind of dash my finger across it but I try really incredibly hard to stop myself. People notice it and point it out.

It makes the wound heal slower, but if you don't mind that then it's normal. It is tempting to pick them.

    Me too! XP

Try not to pick it so much that it bleeds though, if you then fall over into some dirt or touch it with really dirty fingers or something, you mgiht get blood poisoning. D:

I got so may white circle scars on my bicep...it's insane, but then I look and reminisce on some of my life's work. They always end up round, some size of nickels, some dimes, and a few jfk half dollars..

My new thing is to have my fingernail, usually pinky, the perfect length so I can essential pick the scab with that on finger and grab it wedged between the Nail and skin , it's a power move

acually its what you are supposed to do eventually, the scab act as a sort of natural band aid and when you are fully repaired you can just peel it off, its what happens to me every time

I used to, because it would always itch like hell or would be on the verge of falling off, then I was told that was a quick way to leave scars, so I stopped.

I can't help but to pick my scabs it feels great..mentally/physically. I don't believe it's a good thing to pick scabs though, it interrupts the healing process and you can give yourself an infection.

I'd say occasionally is normal but not every boo-boo and every scab, over and over. That's kinda nasty. You must have lots of scars and infections.
