Is it normal to perform better in when you have a female influence?

I am in university and I was forming average at around 65/70% in each test and then I started getting close to a certain girl and my performance improved to around 80%. After a few arguments we stopped talking after 7 months and I noticed that my performance dropped lower than it was initially to around 60% until picking and leveling back at 65/70%. Is this common?

    She proably put you in a better frame of mind. Were you fucking her? That would get rid of a lot of sexual tension.

      No, it wasn't even a relationship, we were just regularly talking like a couple would. We said 'I love you' every night before one of us went to sleep but that's really as far as we got. I loved every moment of it though. I think we both liked each other and would've gotten into a relationship but neither of us had the courage to actually ask. As you know we had and argument and then stopped talking taking my grades back down :s
