My friend only pees once a day, in the morning. Yesterday he peed at 930am and didn't pee until today at 730am. I told him this was unhealthy but he doesn't think so. How many times does the average male urinate in one day? And is it normal for a 20 year old boy to pee only once a day?
Okay I've been reading all of these and I feel like I need to say something as it's the same with me... I'm always in lectures and you know us college students we can barely remember to do anything. I had to go into hospital for something and as the doctors were doing a scan over my belly they noticed my bladder had 1.5 litres of pee in it, yet I didn't feel the need to pee (I go 3 times a day but mostly 2) so obviously the doc was concerned so she booked me in for tests and fast forward 6 months they concluded that it was normal for me. People's bladder CAN HOLD DIFFERENT AMMOUNTS!!! Before they have the feeling they need to go as long as he's emptying his bladder (40ml is fine left in there) he's good, yeah it's probably not the best thing and he should maybe go into a stall , even if he doesn't have to go and see if he can get something out, by guys not everyone drinks the same amount and peoples bladders are different sizes, maybe he should go for a flow test (they measure you peeing and then scan to see how much is left) BUT HE Is probably FINE
I bet his pee is yellow brown and wreaks. I was young and dumb too. He'll start drinking water if he ever gets a kidney stone.
Admittedly, I've done that a few times. Usually, it's because I forget to use the loo and consequently only use the loo about 1-2 times or I forget to drink.
It really isn't normal. Unless you're as forgetful as me:P it's definitely not healthy. Tell if the risks or make him drink more.
Not peeing enough.... they are not drinking enough... also if the pee is a deep yellow- also not drinking enough... need to drink enough to be healthy and your organs will thank you for it...
Drink more water!!! Does he have issues with public bathrooms? Something could be seriously wrong with his kidneys. Things can make you have to pee less like a high salt diet, but he should be peeing like a mini of 5 times a day. If he is simply holding because he doesn't want to go in public or at all it can cause a UTI or even problems with his kidneys. Please Free the Pee!(Bridege to Tarabithia)
Whoa! Why did you get bent like that? You have to expect ( from adults) when someone posts a rather silly comment about peeing on here, to not get shit about it. Are you new? Seriously. The average person is supposed to urinate 6-7 times a day. I know for a fact, that his doctor did NOT tell him that it was "normal". Fact. Yes, he should cut back on caffeine related drinks and go for water or Gatorade, but no way is it safe for anyone's health to only urinate one time in 24 hours. Don't come on here and bitch at people for making comments... That is what chat-rooms are for. This is a serious, or it's supposed to be anyways, place for people to go to ask legitimate questions. Thats not normal at all. You should get that check out with your doctor. Seriously we are suposed to pee at least 3 to 5 times a day, depending on our liquid intake. But once a day is not healthy at all.
You're not with him 24/7, so how do you know he's telling the truth? If he is telling the truth, maybe he doesn't drink very much liquid.
Sounds like Renal Failure... Does he have any other symptoms? Hypertension? Swelling in his extremities that makes little "pits" when you push in on his skin (pitting edema)? Shortness of breath?
Yeah everyone needs to pee more than that. The least amount I've peed in a day was 2-3 but that was because I didn't drink much that day and didn't eat.

My friend recently talked to his doctor and was told just to drink more water and less iced tea/soda/etc. But thank you all for your concern!!
Perhaps he's an alcoholic. Heavy consumption of spirits leads to near-constant dehydration.
If he is not flushing out his kidneys, he's either in BIG trouble, or he's headed for BIG trouble! He needs to see a urologist ASAP!!!
Whoa...not good. He should really see a doc if he truly only urinates once a day.
