Is it normal to only like people if you choose to pursue them?

Is it normal to only like a person if you have already chosen to take some prior interest in them and if someone shows interest in you completely reject them?

I've liked many people but never pursued them. But you may like the idea of who they are and the qualities they have, but you may not know (or like) who they are.
Usually you find someone with qualities you enjoy and then get to know them better.
Or you could get to know them first then fall for them.

I don't feel this way but in this era it appears to be very common according to my observations, I don't understand it but ya it's normal.

I usually like someone before I choose to pursue them.

Love the one you're with. It's very foolish rejecting someone who shows an interest in you. Chasing the unattainable is just plain stupid.
