Is it normal to only get good rest with 12h of sleep?

I usually feel fatigued even when I haven't done anything strenuous for the day or exhaust myself with physical situations. My body alarm applies whenever I have had at least 12h of sleep in most occasions. I only feel truly well rested when I have slept for that time period. Should this worry me? On average, 8h of sleep should be fine. Maybe sleeping too much is what is making me restless? Is this normal?

12 hours? Sounds like possible sleep Apnea. I'd consult a doctor or a specialist. It's not normal to have to sleep that long to feel rested.

Sleep apnea has to do with having trouble breathing when you sleep and it tends to disturb your sleep, whether you toss and turn and snore (Les REM sleep, the result restful kind), or even wake up at night.

8 hours is good to have a 8 hours night if you can get it.

Everybody needs different amounts of sleep, but I would also double check with a doctor to make sure there are no underlying health concerns causing your need for 12 hours of sleep.

Everyone's sleep needs seem to be different. My grammy only sleeps 4 hours or so and is totally charged up. My sister needs about 14 hours to feel rested. My hubby is a solid 8 hour guy. I can only sleep a few hours at a time, I wake up, sleep a little more later and then feel rested.
